You know Hollywood, you know Wall Street, you know the White House, you know a society misguided by capitalism and consumerism. You forget to see the people, the 300 million PEOPLE, diverse and rich in their own cultures, their own religions/belief systems, their own history - living together, working together, trying to make a better life for themselves and the people around them.
Hatred is hatred. Ignorance is ignorance. They take root in the same place, the same close-minded, uncompassionate, polarizing, dehumanizing, construct within all of us. I will not defend nor do I take pride in the mass atrocities that my country has committed and continues to commit on the global scale. But do not believe that your stereotyping and your generalizing about MY people and where I came from is okay. Because it isn’t.
